The Independent Retailers' Confederation (IRC)
The Independent Retailers' Confederation is an umbrella group for Trade Associations representing the independent retail sector. It provides a lobbying organisation for many trade bodies who, on their own, would not be able to create such a high profile within both Government and Parliament.
The IRC provides 'critical mass' enabling the sector to punch above its weight. The IRC "supports the aims and objectives of the Independent Retail sector and will endorse any campaigns designed to reverse the consolidation that has arisen as a result of inequitable supermarket competition."
Quintus Public Affairs Ltd provide the IRC with a weekly monitoring service. This tailored brief brings members up to date with any Government policy, consultation or parliamentary event that will effect the independent retail sector. The monitor also provides political, public policy, legislative and regulatory intelligence at both UK and EU levels, utilising our own network of contacts as well as published information resources.
The Independent Retailers' Confederation also works, through Quintus, with the All Party Parliamentary Group for Small Shops to raise awareness among Parliamentarians of a broad range of issues that concern small shopkeepers; and to help educate MPs and Peers on the vital economic and social role played by small independent retailers. The All Party Group meets with Ministers three times a year.
Quintus also provide the option of additional consultancy services to member companies on a case by case basis.
